CAIR to sue CPD
CAIR is expected to file a lawsuit Thursday against the CPD, accusing officers of violating the civil rights of a Muslim woman.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will file a lawsuit Thursday against the Chicago Police Department accusing officers of violating the civil rights of a Muslim woman.

CAIR said video shows the young woman getting arrested at a CTA stop in the Loop during the summer of 2015. The lawsuit accuses officers of excessive force, false arrest, violation of freedom of religious expression and malicious prosecution.

The woman was charged with several crimes, but was found non guilty of all of them.

The Chicago Police Department has not responded to requests for comment by ABC7 Eyewitness News.
