Cardinal George to be honored with Medal of Merit

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's Cardinal George is set to be recognized by City Hall. The Archdiocese told Eyewitness News that the Cardinal will receive a Medal of Merit at Wednesday's council meeting. Mayor Emanuel will announce a resolution as well.

The Medal of Merit is the city's highest honor and rarely awarded.

The cardinal, who continues his battle against cancer, plans to be at the meeting in the morning.
