7-Eleven owner exchanges fire with robbers
A 7-Eleven owner fired at two suspects after they robbed his store overnight.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The owner of a 7-11 returned fire during a hold-up early Friday morning near Montrose and Francisco avenues in the Ravenswood Manor neighborhood.

According to a clerk, two masked men walked into the convenience store in the 2900-block of West Montrose and demanded money, police said, around 1:41 a.m. The store owner gave them money and, as he watched them drive away, they shot at him, the clerk said, so the owner returned fire.

Police say the getaway car, with blown out windows, was found about a mile away in the 4400-block of Christiana. Police say they do not know whether any shots hit the suspects.

The owner was not injured in the shooting.

Chicago police will view surveillance video from the store's many cameras.
