WHEATON, Ill. (WLS) -- Officials announced Friday that Jerry McBride, a DuPage County Board member, has died.

McBride, of Glen Ellyn, has represented DuPage County's fourth district since 2006.

"JR was the best kind of public servant. He was deeply committed to his community and family. JR was an advocate for common sense government reforms. He always considered the needs of citizens and taxpayers first when taking a vote or position on an issue. This is a personal loss to all of us because JR made everyone his friend. We will miss his wonderful, booming laugh and his ability to help us all find the humor in our lives," said DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin in a statement.

McBride is survived by his wife Becky and their five children.

Officials have not released any other details.
