FBI offers $5,000 reward for identities of West Side bank robber duo

The Chicago office of the FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the identification of two men that are allegedly connected to a series of West Side armed robberies.

Based on police surveillance, the two men allegedly carried out several armed robberies at West Side businesses in early April, the FBI said.

The first incident occurred at the BMO Harris Bank at 4959 W. North Ave. on April 19. Police said two men entered the bank, and one of the men approached a teller window displaying a handgun, demanding money. After receiving the cash, the two allegedly fled on foot, police said.

Police said they believe the same man returned to the same bank on May 8 and allegedly attempted rob the bank, but fled after bank employees recognized him. Police said another armed robbery then occurred at the Charter One branch at 6700 W. North Ave. on May 9.

Both men are believed to be African American and around 6 feet tall, police said. One is believed to be 30-40 years old, while the other may be in his mid-20s.
