NORRIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- A male suspect is in custody after a shooting that injured two adults at the Harlem Irving Park Mall in Norridge, Ill.

Both victims are hospitalized in fair condition, officials said, in what appears to be a domestic situation.

Sources said the suspect allegedly stole his girlfriend's car while her two children were inside early Thursday morning. The woman, 29, and her male cousin, 36, confronted the suspect, 30, at Harlem Irving Park Mall, also called HIP, 4101 N. Harlem Avenue, when he opened fire inside the garage, officials said.

Both victims were struck multiple times by bullets, police said. As many as 12 shots were fired.

The two children were not injured. They are with relatives, police said.

Both the Chicago and Norridge police departments responded.
