CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 20-year-old store security guard was shot in the leg outside a cell phone store in the Washington Heights neighborhood Friday evening.

Police collected evidence and spoke to employees Friday night at the ABC Choice cell phone store near 95th and Halsted on Friday night. Witnesses say two men wearing masks approached the store carrying guns, apparently intent on robbing the place, but they opened fire before going inside. Tracey Booker was in the office next door and heard four shots.

"And I instantly hopped up under my desk, and I grabbed the phone, grabbed it from under the desk, and I dialed 911," Booker said.

The store security guard was taken to Christ Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are reviewing store surveillance video.

Within minutes of the shooting at the cell phone store, gunfire was breaking out all over the city.

At 30th and Kedvale, a 19-year-old man was killed after a gunman approached him on the street and shot him in the chest.

At 118th and Lowe, two men were shot while sitting in a car after a man approached them on foot and fired shots.

At Saint Sabina Church Friday night, teens are involved in basketball leagues as part of an effort to get them involved in something positive and keep them safe from the violence outside the church.

"We're getting ready for Christmas, we're getting ready for hope and love and possibility. And yet, we keep hearing statistics of people shooting and killing," said Fr. Michael Pfleger, St. Sabina Church.
