Registered sex offender allegedly tried to get into Wilmette school

WILMETTE, Ill. (WLS) -- A registered sex offender is back in custody after Wilmette police said he entered a middle school in the north suburb.

A school receptionist at Highcrest Middle School said he asked to use the restroom. She did not allow him to go any farther into the building.

The receptionist called Wilmette police, who arrested him a short time later.
