Police: Teen shot in Grand Boulevard

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 17-year-old boy has been hospitalized in serious condition after being shot in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood of Chicago, police say.

According to police, the teenager was walking down the 500-block of East 43rd Street around 4:20 p.m. when he was approached from behind by the offender or offenders. They got into a verbal altercation and shots were fired. The victim was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition.

Police are investigating, but do not have anyone in custody. Police also say the victim is a documented gang member
