CHICAGO (WLS) -- A school protest was held Tuesday night in the Logan Square neighborhood.

Parents, students, and community members marched in protest of CPS' plan to convert Ames Elementary into a military school. They also called for the creation of an elected school board.

The protestors say CPS is moving ahead with the change at Ames even though the community voted against it.

In a statement, CPS says changing Ames to Marine Leadership Academy will strengthen the school academically.
