Woman, 18, fatally shot in Belmont-Cragin

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An 18-year-old woman is dead after she was shot in the head in the city's Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

Alexsandria Burgos was sitting in an apartment after midnight Sunday in the 5300-block of West Oakdale Avenue when shots came from outside and hit her.

The victim's aunt, Carmen Alcozer, says the teen worked part-time at a local YMCA with kids and was studying to be a social worker.

Burgos was shot when she went to pick up her younger brother from a party at the apartment.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
