GLEN RIDGE, N.J. -- A New Jersey man is trying to raise money to cover his beloved dog's veterinary bills after he was savagely attacked by two pit bulls.
The attack happened on October 30th. Lee Bowry was walking his 13-year-old dog Griffin on a leash in Glen Ridge, when two unleashed pit bulls suddenly started following them and attacked Griffin.
Griffin before the attack
They latched on to the husky mix's neck and leg and caused several deep lacerations and other injuries.
Police quickly responded after a neighbor called when they heard the screams. But as police attempted to remove the dogs from the scene, one of the dogs jumped out of the backseat of the police vehicle and the attack happened again.
Video of that attack is below, and we must warn you, it is quite graphic.
The pit bulls are in the care of the local pound, but if the owner pays a fine, they could be released. Charges are pending against the dogs' owner. Griffin had to have stitches on his legs, snout, head, shoulder, ear, and other places. Vets thought that he may even lose his ear. His owner begged the veterinarians not to amputate it.
Griffin after the attack
In addition to the more than $3,000 in vet bills, Griffin requires some after care for his wounds. Sadly, Bowery says his sweet friend may never be the same.
A website has been set up by his dog walker to help Bowry cover the costs of Griffin's care.
