Cook Co. Dems hold special meeting
Cook County Democrats will vote Friday whether to continue to support the re-election bid of Cook County Circuit Clerk Dorothy Brown.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Cook County Democrats will vote Friday whether to continue to support the re-election bid of Cook County Circuit Clerk Dorothy Brown, whose cell phone was recently confiscated by the FBI.

The vote, which will involve 80 members of the Cook County Democratic Party, will take place during a special meeting.

During an exclusive interview with ABC7 Eyewitness News political reporter Charles Thomas, Brown, who has not been charged with any crime, said

the FBI's seizure of her cellphone does not signal that she is a federal target.

"I was approached by an FBI agent who indicated that he had a subpoena for my cellphone and I was shocked," Dorothy Brown said earlier this week. "I'm OK with them seeing my personal as well as my official information. I'm OK with that."

The meeting is set for 11 a.m. Friday.

If the group decides to no longer endorse Brown, Alderman Michelle Harris (Ward 8) has asked colleagues to support her run.
