Man dies after falling into Lake Michigan at 31st Street Beach, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died after falling into Lake Michigan on the city' South Side Sunday night, Chicago police said.

The incident occurred at about 11:06 p.m. at 31st Street Beach.

Police said three men were walking when they fell into the water.

A witness and firefighters were able to rescue the group from the water, police said.

One man was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Another man was transported to Insight Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.
