Cardinal George cancels North Dakota trip amid infection

Cardinal George spent Tuesday with his doctors as he fights a persistent infection.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Cardinal George was supposed to be in North Dakota Saturday but cancelled after his doctors advised him not to fly.

He's recovering from an infection in his foot and is using crutches to get around.

It was just one week ago the Vatican announced successor Archbishop Blase Cupich for Cardinal George. He is retiring because of his health as he battles cancer.

Cupich comes to Chicago after a stint as the bishop of Spokane, Wash.
