Cara Program marks 25 years
Maria Kim, Cara Program president and CEO, joined ABC7.

In 2016, the Cara Program celebrates 25 years of motivating people to break the cycles of poverty and homelessness.

Using job training and placement providers, Cara have helped more than 5,000 people find jobs. But for every success story, there are countless individuals living in poverty and struggling with homelessness.

According to Heartland Alliance's 2014 Report on Illinois Poverty, a staggering 23.9 percent of Chicagoans currently live at or below the federal poverty level.

Maria Kim, Cara president and CEO, joined ABC7 to talk about the challenges of getting out of poverty and how the Cara Program is growing in 2016.
