Chatham, Gresham residents rally against violence

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Project Hood coordinated a rally Friday night at Cottage Grove and East 79th Street in Chatham to bring people together to stop the violence.

Gov. Pat Quinn was there with Pastor Corey Brooks for the "Brothers on the Block" and "Sisters on the Street" campaign. They're holding rallies every weekend for the entire summer.

Saint Sabina also hosted a community block club party in Gresham Friday night. Participants were encouraged to enjoy free food, along with dancing, games and other family-friendly activities.
