Chandler Parsons out next 3 games

DALLAS -- Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons is expected to miss at least three games due to a sprain and bone bruise in his left ankle, according to coach Rick Carlisle.

Parsons is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday night's game against the Charlotte Hornets, but Carlisle ruled him out for the Mavs' upcoming stretch of three games in four nights.

Parsons will also miss Tuesday's home game against the Toronto Raptors and Wednesday's road game against the Atlanta Hawks.

"The good news is it's not what we'd call a serious injury," Carlisle told ESPN's Marc Stein in an interview that will air Sunday night on ESPN Radio's NBA Insiders. "The bad news is we're going to miss some time with him and he's a valuable guy for us. Richard Jefferson is going to have to step forward, and we're just going to have to figure it out."

Parsons, the Mavs' prized summer free-agent addition, rolled the ankle Friday when he came down awkwardly after a rebound in a win over the Houston Rockets, his former team. The ankle had been bothering him since he tweaked it in the Mavs' final game before the All-Star break.

X-rays on Friday night were negative, but an MRI on Saturday revealed the sprain and bone bruise. Parsons is averaging 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Mavs (37-20).
