CHICAGO (WLS) -- Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane discussed their new Blackhawks contracts with media Wednesday, which could eventually make them the highest-paid players in hockey.

The Blackhawks $84 million dollar men met the media for the first time since signing the richest contracts in team history. Toews and Kane more than doubled their salaries.

"It's been amazing to think that we're going to have the chance to continue this ride we've been on for another eight years at least," said Jonathan Toews, Blackhawks captain, during the news conference.

"I'm humbled to be up here in the first place alongside one of the greatest players in the league today," said Patrick Kane, Blackhawks winger. "I think we have a friendly competition that, as long as we're together, that competition is going to keep getting greater and greater."
