SALVADOR, Brazil -- Refresh for Updates:

FINAL: Belgium 2, USA 1. USA is eliminated.

120' - 1 minute of stoppage time.

118' - Free kick for the U.S. and they try, but nothing comes of it.

117' - Everything is fast, no one is topping. Green gets it to Jones who tries to drive it in, but it goes wide and high.

112' - Free kick for the U.S. SO CLOSE to something but knocked away.

110' - Belgium substitution: Eden Hazard out, Nacer Chadli in.

108' - SO CLOSE. Jones takes a shot and it just goes wide. U.S. looks energized after Green's goal.

106' - GOAL USA!!! Julia Green scores. Now 2-1, Belgium leading.

105' - U.S. gets a free kick near the goal, but nothing comes of it.

105' - U.S. substitution: Alejandro Bedoya out, Julian Green in.

99' - The U.S. rallies around the Belgium goal and something almost happens, but the ball hits the back of Dempsey's leg and Belgium takes it away. Jones goes down hard but appears to be okay.

92' - GOAL BELGIUM. The U.S. has 28 minutes to tie it back up. Score is 1-0, Belgium.

90' - 30 minutes extra time has begun. Just a reminder that the full 30 minutes will be played regardless of who scores, and when. If no one scores, the game will be decided by penalty kicks.

86' - Good work by Yedlin and Jones gets the U.S. a corner kick. Bedoya takes it and it goes nowhere.

82' - A corner kick from Belgium gets kicked away by Dempsey, but right back into Belgium who goes for the goal again. American defending is the only thing keeping this game scoreless right now.

80' - After several hard presses from Belgium and amazing saves from Howard, the U.S. presses forward. Jermain Jones tries to set something up but it goes too far. Yedlin almost gets there in time, though. He is incredibly fast.

77' - Gonzalez is down after appearing to land hard on his ankle while defending the corner kick. Medical is on the field. But he's back up now and looks to be okay for the moment.

75' - Miralles gets a great drive and Howard makes yet another great save.

73' - Dempsey shoots again, Courtois catches again. The U.S. is taking any and every chance they can.

71' - U.S. substitution: Graham Zusi is off, Chris Wondolowski is on.

71' - As Belgium drives to the goal the U.S. knocks the ball to Origi, who kicks hard but Howard is there and knocks it away.

70' - Yedlin gets the ball to Dempsey who just goes for it but it bounces right into Courtois' arms.

66' - Yedlin with another great cross and Courtois snatches it out of the air. Yedlin has been absolutely fantastic so far in this game - fast and focused.

63' - Vertonghen tries for a goal but Howard catches it easily.

61' - U.S. makes a good drive, Dempsey to Zusi to Bradley to Yedlin, who gets in a good cross but there's no one there to get it.

59' - Substitution Belgium: Mertens out, Kevin Miralles in.

59' - Origi gets a great cross in but Belgium can't follow through and it goes wide.

57' - America gets a chance in the box with Beasley and Zusi, but they can't get control over it and still no score.

56' - And again from De Bruyne. Howard's legs get in the way. Still 0-0. Belgium very aggressive at the beginning of the second half.

55' - And another goal try for Belgium. It hits the crossbar and flies away.

54' - De Bruyne takes another chance for Belgium but it goes sailing over the goal. Tim Howard is not happy.

53' - Belgium drives to the U.S. goal, Vertonghen kicks a fantastic cross and it goes by everybody, including the goal.

47' - And we're back! And immediately Belgium goes for the goal, almost heads it in, and Howard knocks it away. Thanks, buddy.

HALFTIME: No one scored, Belgium and U.S. tied at 0-0. Very dynamic first half with quite a few goal chances for both sides.

45' - De Bruyne takes a great shot for Belgium but Howard is there to catch it. 3 minutes of added time for the first half.

44' - Zusi gets another corner kick, but it's too high.

43' - Corner kick for Belgium, but Tim Howard knocks it away easily.

40' - Yellow card for Kompany for his challenge on Dempsey.

39' - Foul on Bedoya. Belgium gets a free kick, close to the US goal, but Dempsey blocks.

37' - Good cross to Dempsey but he can't get his head on it. Close.

35' - Gonzalez, Dempsey and Bradley team up for a great drive towards Belgium's goal, Bradley almost gets it to Jones to score but Belgium is there to knock it away. The counterattack makes it all the way to Howard but the kick is blocked by a wall of U.S. defenders.

33' - Zusi gets the corner kick, Dempsey takes it down on his chest, gets it to Jones who fires, but it goes wide.

30' - Johnson is down on the field with medics attending. A stretcher comes out but he walks off instead. He's off and DeAndre Yedlin is substituted in.

27' - Belgium presses forward, Gonzalez seems to just find himself in the right defensive position by accident, corner kick to Belgium and it's knocked away by America.

25' - Vertonghen kicks hard and true, Beasley comes sliding in by the back post to save it.

22' - Zusi gets his legs caught up in themselves, almost clears the way for a Belgium goal but it goes wide.

20' - Dempsey to Bradley back to Dempsey almost yields a goal for USA but Courtois is there to catch it.

19' - Corner kick for Zusi. Cameron gets his head on it, Dempsey runs after it, Belgium steals it away.

18' - Besler has been rock solid so far, knocking away yet another goal attempt from Belgium.

17' - Yellow card for Geoff Cameron.

15' - And there's a fan on the field. Security comes and takes him away, Klinsmann does not look amused by the play stoppage.

13' - Origi is down after a challenge, limps off the field to be tended by medics.

11' - Belgium makes another run for the U.S. goal, and the ball bounces around far too many times before finally being knocked away.

6' - A good drive, a great kick from Bradley to Jones, but Jones gives it away.

5' - DeMarcus Beasley makes a good run in for a cross but it's knocked away and on top of the goal.

0' - Belgium gets an early goal chance, Howard blocks. Corner kick gets knocked away. This is not the start the United States needed.

Jozy Altidore is available to play for against Belgium today, but is not listed in the starting lineup United States' the first game in the knockout rounds of the World Cup. The U.S. has a chance to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2002 and for only the third time in World Cup history.

The U.S. made two changes from its 1-0 loss to Germany. Geoff Cameron, who started the first two games in central defense, replaced Kyle Beckerman in defensive midfield. Alejandro Bedoya, who also started the opening two games, was back in right midfield in place of Brad Davis.

The United States last played Belgium in a friendly match and lost 4-2, but there is hope for the team to defeat them today. A strong showing so far in the tournament has buoyed American hopes, and fans have turned out around the country in the thousands for public viewing parties to support the U.S. team.

The winner will play Argentina in the quarterfinals on Saturday in Brasilia.
