CHICAGO (WLS) -- The CTA Blue Line station at Damen Avenue is closed Monday for major renovation work as part of the "Your New Blue" program. The stop is scheduled to re-open on Dec. 22.

Riders are advised to use nearby CTA stations at Division and Western in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. They can take No. 56 Milwaukee buses to get to those stations, downtown or to other Blue Line stops.

The No. 56 Damen Station Owl Route will provide overnight bus service to link the closest stations in either direction. The CTA is expected to add buses between Damen and downtown during weekday rush periods.

The $492-million project will update a total of 13 CTA Blue Line stations across the city over four years. Renovations to the station located in the 1500-block of North Damen Avenue will include new lighting, roofing and signage, as well as the installation of art and bike racks.
