Rte 83 near Willowbrook re-opened after ice forces closures

WILLOWBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- Route 83 near suburban Willowbrook has been re-opened after ice forced closures of both the northbound and southbound lanes.

All four ramps forming the cloverleaf interchange at Route 83 and I-55 were also closed, as was the bridge over I-55.

Thirteen vehicles and 21 people have been involved in separate accidents on the icy patch of road, according to the Tristate Fire Department. Two people were transported to hospitals with minor injuries, Tristate Fire District Chief Jack Macione said.
