Christian Piekos
Christian Piekos joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News in June 2022 as a general assignment reporter.

Joining Chicago's No. 1 news station gave Piekos a welcome and exciting opportunity to return to his roots. He was born in Evanston, raised on the North Shore, and even grew up watching ABC 7.

Prior to ABC 7, Piekos served as reporter and fill-in anchor at KSLA-TV in Shreveport, Louisiana. Piekos also worked as an anchor and reporter at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as well as a broadcast associate at CBS News in New York, where he helped coordinate logistics for guests appearing on "CBS This Morning."

Piekos is no stranger to the dangerous elements of reporting, as he has extensively covered multiple natural disasters and severe weather events, including Hurricane Ida in New Orleans and Hurricane Harvey in southwest Louisiana.

A graduate of New Trier Township High School in 2012, Piekos went on to graduate from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

While in Columbia, Missouri, Piekos worked at KOMU-TV, both anchoring the weekend evenings and producing several weekday newscasts. He also served as an Army ROTC Cadet from 2015-2016 and the vice president of the Missouri-Columbia chapter of RTDNA. In 2015, Piekos interned at CNN in Atlanta, Georgia.

Piekos now resides in the Chicago area with his wife. They are grateful to be back in "Sweet Home Chicago" and enjoy spending time walking their golden retriever, Finn.
