Between 4 and 9 a.m., there will be snow showers, possibly mixed with sleet and freezing rain, ABC7 Chicago meteorologist Larry Mowry said.
Up to 2 inches of snow are possible.
Temperatures should warm above freezing by mid- to late-morning Friday, and that will end the icy weather concerns.
Winds will pick up throughout the day, with gusts as high as 40 mph. There will be a chance for additional scattered snow showers during the evening hours Friday.
