A man who worked at a west suburban liquor store was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon.
The 23-year-old victim was shot after he confronted two male suspects who were allegedly trying to steal a bottle of liquor, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at Portrillo Liquors, 2126 S. Cicero Ave. One of the suspects fired a single gunshot at the victim during the robbery, a spokesperson for Cicero told ABC7.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Sebastian Rodriguez by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He died from a gunshot wound to the head.
His coworkers and friends gathering outside the liquor store Wednesday afternoon as a small memorial of candles grew. They told ABC7 Rodriguez was a warm and friendly man who was dedicated to his family.
One co-worker, Norma Brito, said she last spoke to the young man on Sunday.
"He was very kind," Brito said. "He was always with the people, you know, friendly. He never had issues with nobody. The sad part is he was just 23 years old... young age. Still a lot of life ahead for him, you know, but we're in a world where there's no humanity anymore."

The two people of interest in the shooting were taken into custody after police identified a wanted vehicle, investigators said. Their ages were not immediately known.
Cell phone video showed the moments police apprehended the two people.
It was not immediately known what charges the two people of interest may be facing.
Authorities continue to investigate the shooting.
No further information from Cicero police was immediately available.
