Chicago police said 18 people were shot, and 4 people were killed, when someone opened fire after an album release party outside Artis Restaurant and Lounge.
Taylor Walker, 26, was a hairstylist who loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. Her mother said she was the best friend of rapper Mello Buckzz. She was supporting the artist at her mixtape party before she was killed.
Overcome with grief, sadness and endless tears, Sharonda Booth is holding on to the memories of her 26-year-old daughter.
"She was an awesome daughter. She was, Taylor was my backbone," Booth said. "She was a dancing doll at CVS High School. She loved to dance, and hair was her profession, hair. And she loved to work, and she loved to support her friend."
On July 3, Walker was excited to celebrate her friend at her mixtape release party. Her mom says the two were like sisters.
"That was basically her best friend. They've been friends for a while. Taylor done been to a lot of shows with her, a lot of traveling with her," Booth said. "Taylor supported everything that Melly did."

She says she saw her daughter before she left out for the party that night.
"And she was like, 'Ma, I love you. I ain't gone be out long, cause I got to work in the morning,'" Booth said. "And that was the last thing I heard from her."
That night, a car drove up as the party ended. Gunmen opened fire, shooting nearly two dozen people, police said.
"I just can't look at the video, I haven't," Booth said. "I've seen bits and pieces, but it's too hard for me to watch."
She say Walker's significant other, who planned on proposing to her daughter that same week, called her in a panic.
"She called me, she like, 'Ma,' screaming and hollering, 'Ma, ma, Taylor's been shot. Taylor's been shot,'" Booth said. "And I'm like, 'What?' And she like, 'Taylor been shot. Taylor been shot.' She was so hysterical and screaming. All I kept saying was, 'Lord, please don't take my baby.'"
Taylor, along with three others, were killed that night.

"why, why, why?" Booth said. "Taylor was not a street person. Never been affiliated with a gang, never been gang related, never through up gang signs. None of that. And whoever y'all was looking for, y'all didn't see them out there. Y'all seen all females. Y'all seen nothing but females out there, and y'all still shot that up like that.... the pain and the hurt that y'all put us mothers through with this gun violence. It's hurtful."
Chicago police say no one is in custody and detectives are still investigating.
"It's just hurtful. It's hurtful. And anyone, anyone that lost a child, I can't say I know how you feel, because everybody grieves different, everybody feels different," Booth said. "But me and Taylor had a bond that was unbreakable. Unbreakable... unfortunately, it was broken."
But one thing that will endure forever is a mother's love for her child, gone too soon.
Walker's mother says she has been in touch with the rapper Mello Buckzz, who is also devastated about the loss of Walker.
