Authorities used DNA testing to tie Adalberto Santiago to a deadly home invasion.
Santiago was sentenced for a drug case in 2009. His DNA profile was then entered into a national registry and linked to the murder of a 41- year- old man 11 years ago.
Santiago denied knowing anything about the crime, but his DNA matched blood found in the home on a knife.
