Barley flea, invasive beetle from Netherlands, intercepted in Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) -- U.S. Customs and Border Agents in Chicago may have averted an agricultural disaster.

Specialists at the Port of Chicago intercepted an invasive barley flea beetle while inspecting a shipment of rhubarb stems from the Netherlands.

This is the first time it's been discovered in the United States.
