UPS looks to hire thousands this holiday season
CHICAGO (WLS) -- UPS plans to hire 3,800 people in the Chicago area for the upcoming holiday season.
The shipping company needs to fill 3,200 part-time and seasonal positions in Chicago, Palatine, Northbrook, Franklin Park, Bedford Park and Addison. UPS is also looking to fill 600 permanent positions at its regional facility in southwest suburban Hodgkins.
UPS said for those who are hired, shuttles will be available to take employees from the facility at 1400 South Jefferson Street to locations in the north suburbs. The company also said public transportation is available from the South Side to the Hodgkins facility.
To help connect job hopefuls with UPS, the company partnered with City Colleges of Chicago to host three hiring fairs on the South and West Sides:
-Olive-Harvey College, 10001 S. Woodlawn Ave., Chicago: Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-Malcolm X College, 1900 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago: Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
-Richard J. Daley College, 7500 S. Pulaski Rd., Chicago: Tuesday, Nov. 22, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Job-seekers do not have to pre-register. They must bring two original forms of valid identification: a passport, driver's license, state ID, birth certificate or social security card. Free parking will be available at each hiring fair.
