Thousands of products recalled due to possible rodent waste exposure

MINNEAPOLIS -- Some popular food products sold in three states are being recalled due to possible exposure to rodent waste.

It's a recall of thousands of products: not only drugs, medical devices, cosmetics and human food, like candy and kitchen staples, but pet food, as well.

Some of the items recalled in three states include Jolly Ranchers, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Cheerios, Pringles, Gatorade, Coca-Cola and Heinz Ketchup.

According to Gold Star Distribution, the Food and Drug Administration determined its Minneapolis center was operating under unsanitary conditions.

The products may have come in contact with rodent droppings and urine along with bird waste.

The company initiated a recall in December, but the FDA is classifying it now as one that could cause adverse health consequences, including illnesses like salmonella.

Even products like Pepto Bismol and Gillette razors are part of the recall.

The FDA says no illnesses have been reported.

The company says these products were sold in Indiana, Minnesota and North Dakota.

Anybody who bought the recalled items in those three states are being told to throw them away.
