Chicago Urban League marks 100th anniversary
For 100 years, the Chicago Urban League has focused on making huge impacts in the African American community and the city of Chicago.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- For 100 years, the Chicago Urban League has focused on making huge impacts in the African American community and the city of Chicago as a whole.

From housing placement, job training, education and more, the organization has done a lot and is striving to do much more.

Chicago Urban League President and CEO Shari Runner spoke about the organization's accomplishments, goals, and upcoming events at ABC7's State Street Studios Thursday morning.

To honor its 100th anniversary milestone, Chicago Urban League is kicking its centennial year off with a free community cookout in Washington Park on July 23rd from 12 p.m.-3:00 p.m., and a call for individuals to collectively pledge 100,000 volunteer hours across the community throughout the year.
