LEMONT, Ill. (WLS) -- A Justice man faces DUI charges in connection with a crash that killed a 94-year-old woman in unincorporated Lemont.
Patrick O'Connor, 29, was heading west on Archer Avenue in the southwest suburb in a 2002 Mercury Sable, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said. Around 1:45 p.m. Friday he crossed into eastbound traffic near West 107th Street and allegedly hit a 2011 Subaru Outback carrying two women.
The passenger, 94-year-old Lillian Landuska of Brookfield, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. O'Connor and the other driver, a 66-year-old woman from Downers Grove, were treated for minor injuries.
Authorities said O'Connor consumed alcohol and had methadone administered earlier in the day.
O'Connor was charged with aggravated DUI causing bodily harm or death on Saturday. He was also cited for driving too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed, DUI and crossing the median.
O'Connor is being held on $750,000. He is due in court in Bridgeview on Tuesday.
