DURHAM, N.C. -- A woman was killed in Durham early Sunday morning as she waited for help with a flat tire.
Police said around 2 a.m., 51-year-old Beverly Bennett was stuck on the side of the road in a 2006 Ford Expedition driven by her daughter, 35-year-old Connie Shanae Bennett.
The women were waiting for assistance with their flat tire on the shoulder of Midland Terrace.
Their car was struck by a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant, driven by Beverly Bennett's son, Corey Bennett. Police said Corey Bennett, 29, was arriving at the scene to help.
Authorities said Beverly Bennett was attempting to get out of the Ford Expedition when the SUV rolled over. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation.
