Teen charged after bringing gun to school, Evanston police say

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A teen who police said brought a gun to school in north suburban Evanston is now facing a felony weapons charge.



Around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Evanston Township High School officials told a school resource officer an unloaded Walther P38 semi-automatic handgun was found in a student's backpack.



Police said the officer seized the weapon and took the student, 18-year-old Martez Hill, into custody.



Hill, of the 600-block of Case Place in Evanston, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a felony, and unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card, a misdemeanor.
