ABC7 kicks off Feed the Love campaign
The CEOs of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Northern Illinois Food Bank joined ABC7 live on Giving Tuesday to share how you can help Feed the Love.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- On this Giving Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, ABC 7 Chicago kicks off "Feed the Love", an initiative with area food banks to help fight the growing problem of food insecurity.

During ABC 7's 11a.m. newscast, co-anchored by Terrell Brown and Tanja Babich, Meteorologist Tracy Butler presented checks to Kate Maehr of The Greater Chicago Food Depository and Julie Yurko of the Northern Illinois Food Bank on behalf of ABC 7.

In addition to the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana will also participate.

With inflation soaring and many families struggling to find their footing post-pandemic, it is more important than ever to continue the fight to end hunger by providing consistent, nutritional meals to those in need.

Through a network of more than 700 community partners, the Greater Chicago Food Depository expects to distribute 2.75 million holiday meals this year throughout Chicago and the Northern Illinois Food Bank plans to provide 78-80 million meals throughout all of Northern Illinois.
