Food drive to help Chicagoland families in need

Lynwood Christian Church (LCC) is stepping in to help families struggling with food insecurity ahead of Thanksgiving, as ongoing SNAP delays leave many residents without support.

LCC will hold its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on Saturday at 9 a.m. at 19800 Burnham Avenue. The event will include free hot meals and food distribution for families and seniors in need.

Church leaders say donations and financial contributions are needed to meet rising demand this holiday season. "Every gift counts," Dr. Phyllis Smith said, noting that the food drive helps residents who have been furloughed or are experiencing gaps in federal assistance.
