The opulent Manhattan penthouse apartment belonging to the late Joan Rivers has sold for $28 million, and much like its former owner, its colorful, fully accessorized and more than a little over the top.

The apartment received multiple offers and sold for the full asking price of $28 million last week to an undisclosed buyer from "Middle East royalty," according to CNBC.

Overlooking Central Park, the 11-room Rivers home was built in 1903 by Gilded Age millionaire John Drexel. It includes two kitchens, four bedrooms, five fireplaces, a wood-paneled library, a music room and a ballroom.

Rivers passed away on Sept. 4, 2014 following a routine surgical procedure. Over the weekend she was posthumously awarded a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for her memoir "Diary of a Mad Diva."
