Ald. to urge city to settle Bettie Jones shooting lawsuit quickly

The city council's Finance Committee meets on Monday and Ald. Jason Ervin (28th Ward) is expected to urge committee members to quickly settle with the family of a woman fatally shot by police.

An Chicago police officer accidentally shot 55-year-old Bettie Jones the day after Christmas after a neighbor called police to report that his son was acting erratically. In the same West Garfield Park shooting, police killed Quintonio LeGrier.
