HAZEL CREST, Ill. (WLS) -- Edna Lawler, the oldest person in Illinois, has passed away at age 112 of stroke complications.
Lawler celebrated her 112th birthday at her retirement community in Hazel Crest in January.
Her family says Lawler didn't claim to have any specific secret to a long life, besides doing everything in moderation and working hard.
Lawler was the oldest person in Illinois when she passed away, the 11th oldest in the United States and the 43rd oldest person in the world.
She was born in 1904 and first married at age 30 in 1934. Lawler's husband passed away in 1988, and she leaves behind two daughters, 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, according to her family.
