Minivan stolen on South Side had man's ashes inside

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A search is underway for a stolen minivan that contains a Chicago family's personal possession - the ashes of a deceased loved one.

A 2005 Dodge minivan was stolen Monday night from 82nd and Sangamon. Thelma Liggins, the vehicle's owner, says the urn that holds her husband's ashes was inside because she was in the process of planning his memorial service.

His birth and death certificates and other important documents were also inside the vehicle, Liggins said.
