CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was fatally shot during a police-involved shooting in the city's West Side, police said.
Police responded to reports of a man with a gun in the 3500-block of W. Grenshaw around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Police say the officers forced entry into the residence, fearing for the life of another person inside after the offender refused to open the door.
The officers then observed a man with a handgun, who then allegedly charged at them with the gun pointed in their direction, police said. The officers then shot the offender.
Police say a woman with a gunshot wound and several stab wounds was discovered inside and hospitalized in serious condition.
The officers were not injured during the incident.
The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
