CHICAGO (WLS) -- Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has asked for a presidential commutation, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report on Friday.

Four months ago, a judge re-instated his original 14-year prison sentence.

Blagojevich's request came just days after his attorney asked for another sentencing hearing.

A president may commute a sentence to time served or reduce it, but those requests are rarely granted.

Blagojevich is scheduled to be released from prison in May 2024.
