CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago animal shelter saw a total of 146 homeless pets adopted at this weekend's adopt-a-pet event.
The 36-hour PAWS Chicago adoption marathon kicked off Friday at the shelter on North Clybourn Avenue in Lincoln Park.
PAWS Chicago is the city's largest no-kill shelter.
Shelter volunteers say the holidays are the perfect time to adopt since families spend more time at home and can bond with their new pets.
