1 found dead after South Side house fire, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was found dead after a fire in a home on the South Side Thursday morning, Chicago police said.

The fire broke out at around 3 a.m. in the 9600-block of South La Salle Street.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire, police said.

A 65-year-old man was found unresponsive inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No additional injuries were reported.

CPD said it is conducting a death investigation.The cause of the fire is under investigation.
