1 killed in Hampshire hit-and-run on US Route 20

HAMPSHIRE, Ill. (WLS) -- A female victim was killed in a hit-and-run in Hampshire Monday morning, police said.

The Hampshire Police Department said they responded at about 12:40 a.m. to a report of a crash on US Route 20 north of Big Timber Road.

Police said a female victim was found dead in the roadway at the scene and the suspect's vehicle had fled the scene.

The Hampshire Police Department, Kane County Major Crimes Task Force, and Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team. US Route 20 is closed between Big Timber Road and Gast Road as police investigate.
