2 Illinois State Police troopers injured in Cicero crash

CICERO, Ill. (WLS) -- Two Illinois state troopers were hurt in a rollover crash in Cicero Tuesday night, ISP said.

The two troopers were taken to the hospital after their squad was involved in a rollover crash at about 11:52 p.m. at the intersection of 14th Street and Cicero Avenue as authorities said they pursued a stolen SUV.

Authorities said the crash was not the result of a chase, but happened when the driver of the stolen vehicle crashed into the troopers' squad while trying to get away.

The troopers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

A third vehicle driven by innocent motorist also sustained heavy front-end damage as a result of the crash, police said. That driver wasn't hurt.

One person was taken into custody and charges are pending.
