Joliet Township highway commissioner revokes Flock camera permits, citing privacy concerns
JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- The Joliet Township highway commissioner has revoked Flock camera permits, citing privacy concerns.
That means the cameras will not be allowed on Joliet Township Road District property.

Commissioner Vincent Alessio said in part, "These cameras are a powerful tool that do not have enough oversight on their use, and allow the government to use them in ways that further implicate citizens' freedom of movement, expression, and privacy."
The Will County Sheriff's Department says it was never notified about the request to remove the cameras.
This comes as a Will County sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave while the department investigates potential policy violations.
