ELGIN, Il.. (WLS) -- An employee of the Illinois State Police department has been charged with the criminal sexual assault.

Arthur D. Weathers, 54, is accused of sexually abusing a minor when he was a volleyball coach at First Kill Volleyball club in Elgin.

The Kane County State's Attorney says the allegations date back to the years between 1999 and 2001.

The victim was 16 when the alleged abuse began. The victim made the report in August 2025.

According to the investigation, Weathers is employed as a forensic chemist with the Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services, where he has worked since 1998.

He was arrested on May 19. The court ordered Weathers released under certain conditions while his case is pending.

Weathers is due in court on July 15.
