1 charged after woman shot inside Bradley University dorm

PEORIA, Ill. (WLS) -- A Lansing man has been charged after a woman was shot inside a dorm at Bradley University Sunday, Peoria police said.

Neither the victim nor the suspect are a student at Bradley police said.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at a campus dorm in the 900-block of North Duryea Place at about 2:14 a.m., police said.

Peoria police said associates of the victim were attempting self-transport to a hospital and officers located a vehicle in the area of an 18-year-old woman who was wounded in the abdomen, police said. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Officers secured the crime scene and Edward Traywick Jr. of Lansing was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm under 21 and reckless discharge, police said.

Police said both Traywick and the victim were both guests of a Bradley student.
