A 17-year-old family member fled the home after the suspect, 20-year-old Mustafa Farraj, allegedly confronted him with an air pistol or rifle.

The teen then walked several blocks to the Bridgeview Police Department and reported the threat around 11 p.m.

Bridgeview police and SWAT officers responded to the home, where Farraj allowed the 13-year-old and the mother to leave, but he remained inside.

Police were eventually able to coax Farraj to the door, where law enforcement apprehended him and confiscated his weapon around 1 a.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported.

Farraj had an outstanding Aggravated Assault warrant, and another Aggravated Assault charge is being field, police said.
